News Updates

september 2008

Hi everyone,

• The two Jim Haynes ‘Brekky’ shows with Melanie and Pete Denehy at the Gympie Muster were a great success – it was nice to return to the Muster after starting up the morning shows there many years ago and hosting the TV Specials for quite a few years. Sofie Spencer was with us on piano and we had a ball on stage and off, catching up with lots of old friends. See photos …

• This month sees the private release of young Melanie Dyer’s seven track CD. She has been writing with myself, Dianna Corcoran, Melinda Schneider and Amber Lawrence and we wanted to get her used to recording in a studio. The seven tracks have turned out well and, while the CD won’t be released to radio or commercially through a record company, it is available at shows and HERE!

• Two BIG events on the calendar for October – The CMAA will present a fund raising concert at REVESBY WORKERS’ CLUB on Sat 18th October featuring John Williamson and the True Blue Bush Balladers, James Blundell, The Bushwackers, Jim Haynes, Pete Denahy, Melanie Dyer &  Lou Bradley.
PH 02 9772 2100 to book.

• The next day Melanie and I are off to perform at the Illlawarra Folk Club’s mini festival ‘Folk In the Foothills’ at the beautiful Jamberoo Valley Resort . This day long event features features John’s daughter Ami Williamson along with Nick Charles, Sunas, The Songcatchers, Zorba's Kefi Band, Pacific Curls, Martin Pearson, Charlie McMahon, Wongawilli, John Broomhall Trio, Tribal Jewels Belly Dancers, Wollongong Welsh Choir, Vivienne Sawyer, No Such Thing, Brian Bell, Replay. More information and tickets available at www.illawarrafolkclub.org.au

• Plans are well under way for TAMWORTH 2009. The GOOD news is that all your favourites will again be part of the BIG BUSH BREKKY VARIETY SHOW. Darren Carr, Paddy Ryan and  Melanie Dyer will be on the show EVERY DAY with myself and Rustling Russell on piano. We will have all the usual STARS popping in … you never know who will be the ‘special guest’ on the BIG BUSH BREKKY SHOW!

Come visit us again soon, and don’t forget I’m on 2UE every Sunday at 12.30pm, if you’re not in Sydney you can listen online at www.2ue.com.au

Cheers,
Jim
