CRUISIN' COUNTRY -

What a GREAT TRIP we had on THE RHAPSODY OF THE SEAS ......

Cruisin' Country is the brainchild of Mick Manov, his family and his mate Scott. They chartered the ship and there were 2200 Country Music fans on board!

We cruised to Noumea and back and visited the Isle of Pines. The weather was perfect and the shows were wonderful. I hosted each show and John Williamson, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys, Amber Lawrence, Catherine Britt and Adam Harvey were the main acts each evening. We had a great time and the plan is to do it all again in 2012 and 2013! There are photos attached !

• TAMWORTH APPROACHING - we are already planning the Big Bush Brekky Variety Show - lots of NEW songs and new faces along with myself and Darren Carr and Rustling Russell and the usual surprise visits from our STARS each morning! Lots of surprises this year ....some great news about my NEW ALBUM being launched and some other big news for Jim Haynes !

• NORFOLK ISLAND - we are off again in MAY 2012! Why not JOIN US?

• NEW BOOK - Best Australian Trucking Stories is my new book for Allen & Unwin, available from all good bookshops and even the bad ones! Or via the website in next few days.

I gathered REAL stories from some amazing characters, from all parts of Australia. Their yarns and experiences ring true and take the reader into the fascinating and often lonely world of the long distance truck driver.

Crossing the Nullarbor in the early 1950s, repossessing vehicles in suburban Adelaide, rescuing mates stranded in the desert, dumping wheat in protest at Parliament House, all these and many more stories prove that truth is often stranger, more inspiring and funnier, than fiction.

There are tales about the Truckie's Friend Slim Dusty, on the road himself for over fifty years, the history of road trains of the Northern Territory and the early cross-country vehicles and the men who used them as they pioneered the outback.

There are stories of endurance, stories of antics and Aussie humour from some of the most genuine Aussie characters to ever spin a yarn, and there are true stories that will break the hardest heart.

If you know nothing at all about trucks and truckies, you will have a clear and vibrant picture of the history of road transport and those who deliver 90% of everything you buy when you have read this book. If you love a good yarn and have any connection with the trucking business, this book is a 'must-read'!

See you at Tamworth ...or on Norfolk Island ...or maybe aboard the RHAPSODY OF THE SEAS in 2012 !!
